History

DemoThe Mannin Art Group was established in the North of the Island over 60 years ago. Sir Sidney Wadsworth. a retired Indian judge and his painter wife, invited groups of artists to paint at their picturesque home on the banks of the Sulby River. Subsequently an Art Society was formed.

At the formation many of the great Manx artists were still alive among them John Nicholson, John Aitken and William Hoggatt.

The first exhibition was held at Albert Road School, Ramsey in 1950 when whole classrooms were given over to the works of Nicholson, Aitken and Hoggatt.

Todays members and exhibitors include all the leading artists on the Island.
