MANNIN ART 60th ANNIVERSARY

Plans are in hand for our 60th Anniversary.    In addition to our own Annual Exhibition which will open on Thursday July 23rd 2009, the following two Exhibitions have also been agreed especially for our 60th year.

1.  We will exhibit c.40 pictures at The Erin Art Centres  Mananan Festival from  Saturday June 20th through to Wednesday  8th July.  There will be a preview on Friday 19th June 6.30 – 8.00pm. when pictures will be for sale. Our usual commission of 12 ½% will apply.  The President of the Festival is Sir Laurence New; our Mannin former President.  International artists have been booked for six concerts over the Festival which will be covered by BBC Radio 3.  There will be handout leaflets with our website address for enquiries giving details for purchasing and promoting our own Annual Exhibition .   12 pictures with a Manx theme or scene  will be chosen from this event for a Mannin Art 60th Anniversary  desk calendar.   
 
We are inviting members to submit photographs of one or two pictures they may like to show at The Festival.   Do not feel restricted to a Manx theme - a good variety of work is sought for the exhibition..   Members name, address and telephone no. along with the title, medium and size should be on the back of  the photograph with a price if for sale. There will be a hanging fee of £2 for each picture.   Pictures can have been exhibited elsewhere. Photographs with details should be  submitted by May 5th 2009 for the attention of : The Festival committee c/o J Buck, Ballacottier, Andreas, IM74EP. 

Chosen exhibitors will be notified the following week. Paintings for hanging should be delivered to Ballacottier, Andreas on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of June between 10am and 4pm, directions to this address will be in the spring newsletter.

At the end of the Festival the pictures will be removed on Thursday 9th July and can be collected from Ballacottier in Andreas on Friday 10th July from 10.00am – 4.00pm.    Directions will be given to you on handing in.            

2,  The Manx Museum will hold an Exhibition for our 60th Anniversary – during January – February 2010.  They will be putting together information on the history of  The Mannin Art Group and it’s founder members. Nicholson, Hoggett, Aitken etc.  Members are invited to submit up to 3 pictures as for the Mananan Festival by way of photographs and again a selection committee will determine those that will go forward for the Museum Exhibition.  Pictures can have been exhibited previously.  This will also be an opportunity to publicise our 2010 Exhibition!    Photographs and details should be in for selection by October 30th 2009.   Those artists whose work has been selected will receive written details first week December 2009 as to the procedure for handing in; preview etc. dates and times.   There are no hanging fees for this exhibition.
